''Drown With Me''
Project type
Romantic short story, Love Letter
The first time I saw your eyes, I didn’t know they’d become my favorite sight for the rest of my life. Sometimes you don’t even need to talk, just look at me, and I know you love me. I’ve never seen anything warmer than your gaze when it’s on me. I never knew the same eye color could be icy like snow when someone angers you, and hot like the sun when you’re happy.
You have this terrible habit of humming songs that annoy me. Songs I end up listening to when you’re not beside me, because I can’t stand the silence your absence leaves behind.
At night, when you sleep, you hold me so tightly I can barely handle the weight of your body. I never move you away.
Your mind is what disarms me without even trying. There’s something so tangled in there, yet its beauty leaves me speechless. While I listen to you speak, I imagine some grand piece of art created centuries ago, something I don’t understand, but that makes me feel so deeply it scares me.
Sometimes I sit and I can feel how love pours out of me. So much of it that I don’t know what to do with it. I don’t know how to give it all to you without suffocating you. I don’t know how not to drown in it myself. It’s yours. Do whatever you want with it. I don’t even want you to give it back. I just want you to have it. To know that someone out there loves you. Someone who would live for you, even when others would die for you.
Because that’s the meaning of it all, right? To fight beside you, day after day, failure after failure, and never lose the battle because you’re there. Because you make me want to live on the days when it feels impossible.
And maybe that’s my mistake. Maybe I should’ve found my meaning in something else. Something that would make me whole on my own. Something not as fleeting as human life. And despite my mistake, I wouldn’t change it. I wouldn’t choose another purpose, I wouldn’t choose another path. I’d walk through every mistake again and again if the path leads me back to you.
My love isn’t light, it isn’t gentle, and it isn’t quiet. And maybe it’s too much for you. But allow yourself to drown in it like I do. Allow yourself to feel weightless, to lose your sense of up and down, because none of that matters when you’re in the middle of the ocean.
Drown with me.
